DLSU AWOS Enhances K-12 Curriculum

SIGWA website enables the Grade 6, 8, and 9 science to do science activities through monitoring and understanding data collection that involves the following K-12 learning content:

– Weather pattern
– Understanding Typhoons
– Knowledge about Climate

Grade 6 - Earth and Space FOURTH QUARTER / FOURTH GRADING PERIOD

Weather patterns in the Philippines - Weather patterns - Seasons -Effects of seasons on livelihood and health of people in the community	demonstrate understanding of weather patterns, seasons and effects fo seasons on livelihood and health of people in the community	chooses activities appropriate to the changing seasons and find ways to reduce risks	reports and interprets data on the weather in a span of a school year explains the seasons in the Philippines and their effects on livelihood and health of the people in the community

Grade 8 - Earth and Space FOURTH QUARTER / FOURTH GRADING PERIOD

Understanding typhoons - how typhoons develop - why the Philippines is prone to typhoons - how landforms and bodies of water affect typhoon -Philippine area of responsibility	demonstrates understanding of formation of typhoons	demonstrates precautionary measures before, during, and after a typhoon includes following advisories, storm signals, and calls for evacuation given by responsible government agencies participates in activities that lessen the harmful effects of typhoons	explain how typhoons develop inters why the Philippines is prone to typhoons explain how landforms and bodies of water affect typhoons traces the path of typhoons that enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility usign a topographic map and tracking data

Grade 9 - Earth and Space FOURTH QUARTER / FOURTH GRADING PERIOD

Climate - factors that affect climate - global climate phenomenon	demonstrate understanding of the factors that affect climate, the effects of changing climate, and how to adapt to them	participates in activities that reduce risks adn lessen effects of climate change	explains how different factors affect the climate of an area describes certain climatic phenomena that occur on a global level (global warming and EL Nino are included here)
